a little something to take the edge off
+ Copenhagen streets, gourmand perfumes, and 'de-tech'ing
Postcard from Copenhagen [from Ilze]. Aside from the effortlessly cool, timeless, relaxed silhouettes, here’s what caught my eye:
a. Helmets—very much a thing. Unlike Amsterdam.
b. Flatlist is THE sunnies brand here.
Interesting.

A Little Something To Take the Edge Off
People are sharing what helps them decompress: fries to cheese and carrots with hummus, to pets and boyfriend biceps – all set to the loungy “deep in it” by Berlioz After last week’s “fridge ciggy” moment, it’s clear: we all need to chill.
Anti Tech-Convenience
People are realizing that streaming music doesn’t mean you own it. That your Kindle book could vanish. That taking a photo on your phone comes with 37 other distractions. So instead, they’re opting for single-function devices.
It's part de-tech, part digital boundaries, part anti-convenience.
Sure, it started with vinyl and physical media (real ownership! pretty shelves!). But now it’s moved into the devices themselves. There’s this growing sense that the all-in-one phone with its endless apps and auto-renewing subscriptions has kind of... colonized our lives.
There's something satisfying about choosing inconvenience if it means less surveillance, less distraction, and fewer dopamine loops.
Stone X Technology?
In a similar vein, a new aesthetic gaining traction is this post-digital, ‘litho-tech’ look - a combination of natural stone and rock with tech (that is also made of minerals). It’s mostly an art aesthetic, more prevalent in the music scene, but it’s definitely one to keep an eye out for.
Cold Smoked Mackerel
These Slavic cold smoked fish are everywhere on food TikTok and Instagram right now, especially in mukbangs where they’re presented with a side of pickles and black bread. It kinda popped up last summer too; but then got overshadowed by tinned fish.
There’s a growing crossover between Eastern European food and viral “sensory eating”; think ASMR crunches and ‘unique’ or slightly lesser known ingredients — kinda like the Balkan Breakfast trend.
It’s unclear if this is a repost loop or a genuine second wave, but either way: cold smoked mackerel is back on the algorithm’s menu.
Meme of the Week: Indonesian Aura-Farming Boat Kid
Yes, this is from the football team PSG’s official social media account.
This incredibly chronically online meme was borne from clips of Pacu Jalur - and Indonesian festival of boat races - where the dancing coxies look like they are, as the internet puts it, aura-farming.
Haley Pham Sports Edits
This may sound too niche - but ESPN’s jumping on it, so how niche is it really?
It’s an insane entry in the edits community of TikTok (and officially social media marketing). Clips of lifestyle influencer Haley Pham (some of you may know her as Ryan Trahan’s wife) are being cut into high-octane sports edits.
One second she’s just gesturing mid-vlog, the next it smash-cuts to NBA highlights or an F1 crash. What an odd collision of worlds.

Food-inspired perfume
The Gourmand perfume shelf we flagged in early spring keeps growing: Les Elixirs’ Oyster, D.S. & Durga’s Pistachio, and Bistro Water with coriander seed, pear, bell pepper, and nutmeg. NYT just crowned banana the scent of summer 2025, pointing to picks like 27 87’s Hakuna Matata.
