Greets from Copenhagen — Ilze here. I’m in town for a very exciting work mission [clue- it might involve eating caviar from a fake eyeball].
One obvious trend I already spotted: while the rest of the world is obsessing over the Pinterest-coded Danish brekkie staple BMO (“bolle med ost” = bun with cheese), now served everywhere from London to Lisbon, the local go-to here is actually a granola bowl.

P.S. I’ll spill the tea on the job + the fashion I spot on CPH streets next week.

Fridge cigarette
There’s no better pick-me-up on a hot summer day than a perfectly chilled can of Diet Coke. The relief that comes with the click and hiss of opening a can is the internet’s latest obsession. The analogy began with a @reallyrachelreno TikTok caption: “overheard someone call Diet Coke a ‘fridge cigarette’ and nothing’s been more true to me since.” Know someone who needs to take the edge off? Bring a chilled ciggy.
Paris Fête de la Musique

If you felt like everyone on your Insta was in Paris the past weekend, well they were.
The Fête de la Musique (aka Music Day) brought in waves of people for its summer solstice celebration; lowkey turned into the most migrated to event from North/Western Europe… “Usually we have Germans and Spanish, of course French - but now there are so many British people who came for the event.” shared a local who has been to the fête the past five years.
The festival itself didn’t do anything drastically different (same mix of big artists and local acts, same energy), but somehow social media made it feel like the party to be at — maybe cause it finally fell on a Saturday. “Every street had its own rhythm. Every person could find their own song. We didn’t need the same playlist to feel the same joy.” - @isavandenbussche
Summer of Touching Grass
Suddenly, everyone’s a camper.
From camper vans to retro tents, being in the outdoors has been trending hard. It’s popularity has been increasing for a while now; blaming Strava and AllTrails for inspiring people to hike.
Maybe it’s some collective existential dread, maybe desperation to log off and touch grass.
Bandage dress returns
The mummy-inspired bandage dress from the aughts is trending again, and sparking debate—is it empowering or just another objectifying fit? It demands the impossible combo: flat tummy, full curves. House of CB helped bring it back by re-releasing their 2010 version for their birthday drop, but the OG credit goes to Hervé Léger. Wedding guest fit? Only if you’re ready to sit in the corner and nibble on a leaf of salad.
Who Said That?
On TikTok, people are turning their hot takes into punchlines — facing away from the camera, dropping a slightly spicy or unpopular opinion, then quickly following it up with a cheeky “oh, who said that?”
Tiny Chef

A Nickelodeon show (bear with us) has been cancelled, and it’s making moves on X (formerly Twitter). A viral video of Tiny Chef having a dramatic breakdown sparked hilarious empathy and a full-on campaign to bring him back.
Single Summer

A rebrand for hot girl summer; Single Girl Summer is for the recently single. Not quite crying anymore, but still playing "Normal Girl" by SZA on loop. It's matcha in hand, slightly unhinged playlist, and romanticizing your walk to the grocery store, and And Just Like That… queued up.
Our lovely writers are stuck between pre-summer deadlines and work - probably just like you. We’d rather give you a shorter rundown than not at all; so you know we’ll keep you seasoned as much as possible.
