Hiya, how are you doing this week? This week was a lot:
¿€9 tickets between Madrid and Barcelona? Tickets online at 11AM TODAY‼️
Earth is getting a second ‘moon’, technically. No, you probably won’t see it in the night sky.
Now even pausing the video may not let you avoid the ads on Youtube.
Instagram has ‘teen accounts’ now with a bunch of restrictions.
The Row just opened its first store in Europe, located in Paris, featuring an in-store café. (We hear the coffee is seriously overpriced.)
Nobody has leftovers anymore: Tupperware filed for bankruptcy.
Follow-ups:
Verdict is slow coming in, foldable phones are catching up to the traditional smartphone. Link.
There’s more talk on mainstream goth aesthetics - ELLE , Guardian.
RET (public transport provider in Rotterdam, NL) is also hopping onto a dating hour marketing scheme now. Be careful how you’re holding your water bottle on public transport.
Grandfluencer fashion takeover: Jane Fonda walked the runway of L’Oréal Paris at at PFW; Sunnei’s AW25 fashion show featured elderly models at MFW; Brian Cox is the face of the new Asics ad.
Here’s the 🧂:
Tap it out
A new approach to cool off is taking over socials—EFT tapping, aka Emotional Freedom Technique. It's a mix of exposure therapy, cognitive therapy, and body stimulation. EFT starts with a simple setup statement like, "Even though I have [insert problem here], I deeply and completely accept myself" which is repeated while tapping on 8 acupressure points. Benefits? Easing the mind and boosting the mood.
But here’s the twist— loads of online wellness girlies are doing it wrong by stating a positive manifestation like “I’m enough” instead of addressing the issue.
🔬I (Ilze writes) gave it a try, saying, “Even though I’m drowning in work, I completely accept myself.” Results? Felt cute, maybe a tad more relaxed, might do it again.

Well plaid
If there’s one takeaway from all the fashion week photo reportages—both catwalk and street style—it’s that plaid, in all its forms, is the pattern of the moment.

Skirts Over Pants
...and the best way to rock plaid skirts? Over pants, of course.
Or, fellas, why not skirts with no pants at all? It’s 2024, you're already getting silly with nail polish— it’s time, you’re ready.

Vampy Lips
Every fall it’s the return of the berry shades, but this year the darker and more purple (maybe even cool toned) colors seem to be fall’s flavor.
It’s risen to the popularization of more niche brands (e.g. C-beauty brand Girlcult), and honestly - a lot more black lipstick. maybe there’s some connection there to the mainstream goth fashion revival?

Runway Fashion’s Wellness Era
Skincare and wellness brands are now prominent sponsors, blending beauty, art, and self-care in new ways. From Jenn Lee’s acupuncture-inspired show at London Fashion Week to the rise of skincare and IV drips in fashion aesthetics, beauty has evolved beyond mere looks into a health symbol.
As these industries collaborate, it raises the question: is this the future of fashion, and what does it mean for everyday consumers? [Insert Devil Wears Prada ‘Cerulean’ quote here?]

Print media renaissance
Vice Media just announced that they’re reviving their printed magazine. And they’re not the only ones making an offline comeback.
Nylon relaunched its physical magazine this spring, after going digital-only back in 2017. The food mag Saveur is also back in print, and the iconic music mag NME returned last year.
Plus, print media in general seems to be thriving—subscriptions to The Atlantic grew 14% past year.
So, what’s the deal? Blame it on the booming nostalgia and obsession with aesthetics—adding some rizz to our coffee tables. There’s just something about turning physical pages that hits different.
Silhouette of the season?
The avant-garde horseshoe/barrel-leg silhouette is taking over - and rumor is its flattering on everyone.
2024 has been a denim on denim kinda year - between low rise (that’s honestly more mid rise in this economy) and skinny jeans being back, this feels more like the denim iteration of the year.

(Re)newed on the streets of Lisbon…
Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian reopened after a grand revamp by the acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.

That’s all, see ya next week! 🧂
