Summer is over, folks [Ilze writes]. But before we slip into our cable knit sweaters, Uggs (yup, they’re already trending), and go full pumpkin spice, let’s do a lil recap of the summer ‘24:

Ok, moving on, here’s what’s trending this week:
Workwear jackets
Chore, country, utility—they go by many names. Carhartt's signature contrast-collar jackets are now being copied by everyone from Mango and COS to Miu Miu. Barbour is also doing well.

Grandfluencers
Whether it’s a singing grandpa Edwin covering the old bangers like Lana Del Rey’s Video Games, the cute elderly couple @akiandkoichi doing fit checks for Loewe or Marty putting on a show for Kith x Armani new campaign - seniors are stealing the spotlight.
Also in the Venice Film Festival 2024 older actresses like Tilda Swinton and Nicole Kidman are getting the praise they deserve. [Variety]

Some trending titles we spotted:
All Fours by Miranda July
The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
NEXUS by Yuval Noah Harari
Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors
Butter by Asako Yuzuki
A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas
Beginning of the summer, we published a list of book recs from our trusty bookworms.

Solidcore Pilates: The Next Fitness Wave?
Love the pilates aesthetic and reformers, but crave a more intense, strength-focused workout? Solidcore is just that - the U.S. fitness studio (Solidcore) is starting to influence some EU pilates studios combining resistance training with the classic reformer exercises.
People are loving how it helps them build strength while easing into reformer Pilates, especially if they’re more familiar with traditional gym workouts. It’s a new spin on Pilates that’s got people talking—and sweating!
Diptyque the next Le Labo?
Le Labo Santal stans, brace yourselves—Diptyque is making waves. While Byredo had its moment, Diptyque is now filling homes and wardrobes.
Retailers (we asked at the Dutch classic de Bijenkorf too) are saying perfumes by Diptyque are the current ‘in’ for 20-30-year-olds - is this finally a goodbye to the stench of Santal and Sauvage?
Diptyque’s highly anticipated Autumn line dropped on September 3, and while no scent has dethroned Santal 33 yet, the buzz is undeniable. We see the potential for a new favorite in the making!

Flip Phones Are Back (Sort of)
Remember the iconic Nokia and Motorola flip phones? They're making a nostalgic return, with influencers flaunting them as accessories and party essentials.
This isn’t a full-blown comeback—it's more about people disconnecting more, accessorizing by embracing that Y2K vibe, or having an ‘offline’ phone for clubbing (alongside that digital camera). We don’t think they’ll translate - without ‘smart’ abilities - into competing with our touchscreens just yet.
In a world tired of recession blues, it seems like we're all trying to time travel into “better days”, one flip at a time.

Singles, don’t walk—run to Spain, because word on the streets is you can find love at grocery stores. A viral trend goes – you need to hit a specific supermarket at certain hours and place an upside-down pineapple in your cart. Success? Unclear. But things have gotten a bit wild in Bilbao - BBC reports. It already sounds more fun than Bumble or that ugly Pear ring.
