Good morning gang! A new study came out showing that US teens are using Instagram more than ever. And from my (Ilze’s) observations —the findings aren’t limited to the US.
While only two, three years ago the death of IG was declared, it seems to be bouncing back in full force, becoming one of the main means of communication and entertainment channels.
Swapping Insta accounts is the customary next step for taking the convo off dating apps (my friend Carl said that’s a mistake and to go for WhatsApp instead, but a girl wants to peek if he’s an empty-feed guy or perhaps a travel-pics-only type of boy). Even at parties, when you meet someone who seemingly matches your freak taste in memes, before making an Irish exit you exchange Instas with them.

Even the stats back it up—average time spent on Insta has grown by more than 4 hours per month (+34 percent). [We Are Social digital report]
Is it the Reels effect?
On that note, here’s a new TikTok trend showing how different generations post the same IG story content. I wish I could post a Reel for you to see, but it’s gonna take 2 weeks for it to reach IG:
What the world is talking about 🗣
🗞 Victoria’s Secret show is back after a 6-year break, and it’s supposedly all inclusive and celebrating diversity—about time! Plus, Kate Moss made her debut on the runway.
🗞We Live In Time – the new A24 movie with Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield is gaining a lot of media attention, it’s a real tearjerker but we Europeans are only gonna see it in 2025.
🗞“In The Clerb…We All Fam” meme taking over our feeds - you’ve probably heard it by now. But did you know the audio is from the ol’ TV series Broad City?
What the world is obsessing over:
New Phone accessory
We’ve already been maxxing our phone rizz-game, decking them out with sticky grippies (aka silicone suction pads), turning phone cases into personal galleries of dog/bestie passport photos, and clinging onto phone straps (the gorpcore-esque Topologie and the pearly straps from Ateljé). Now meet hippers. The first attachable peekaboo figures came as Sonny Angels, but plenty of alternatives—still in the form of cute creatures—have popped up since.

Adding weight
Ankle and wrist weights are making a comeback—girlies are leveling up their hot girl walks with wearable weights for that extra resistance. Some are using them for pilates or even while tackling everyday chores. The clean-girl-coded Bala Bangles, or their dupes, are especially trending.

Fur
This season, non-vanilla kings and queens are cozying up with some jazzy, furry garments, aligning with the whole indie sleaze and mob wife aesthetic.
Furry swag has made its mark on both street style and the runways e.g. the menswear AW24-25 - from Off-White to Loro Piana.
But real talk: fur is cruel to animals, and fake fur isn’t a win either—the cheaper versions are often made from petroleum-based materials, which are harmful to the environment. The good news? The best pieces for this trend are already hanging in our parents' or grandparents' closets or thrift stores.

Mismatched shoelaces
New Balance x Miu Miu suede sneakers have set off a new wave—people swapping out standard laces for colorful, contrasting pairs on their own kicks that don’t necessarily cost a kidney. Cool way to add some color and character to your fit.
Purse Kindle
This non-Amazon ‘purse Kindle’ is going viral - mostly because of its size. It's an MP3 player that lets you read, listen to audiobooks and podcasts, play music, and watch shows—all in the palm of your hand.
But let’s be honest, if you’re already have an e-reader or just a smartphone, is this even worth investing?
+ speaking of kindle - Amazon released four new Kindles, including the first color Kindle.
