Hey! Ilze here. Like every other 30-year-old woman this week, I binged Nobody Wants This to reacquaint my teenage crush, Seth… I mean Adam Brody. I’m so over streaming services being flooded with Baby Reindeer-esque creepy stories—give me utopian love flicks please – and this one really hit the spot.
Over the weekend, I also checked out one of those viral, overly aestheticized pastry shops in Amsterdam—Pantopia. The staff was incredibly nice, but the whole experience, from the pastries to the overall feel, lacked substance. More function, less form, please.
Onto the trends:
GenZ marketing script
Scroll through TikTok or Reels for a few minutes, and chances are high you’ll stumble upon a boomer promoting their ventures—think museums, libraries, universities, even grocery stores—while overusing as much Gen Z slang as possible in an attempt to appeal to the younger crowd. #genzmarketing has 4K videos (and counting) on TikTok. Slay!
Women dating younger
The buzz around Babygirl [trailer] the upcoming steamy A24 thriller starring Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson, along with other recent “older women dating younger men” flicks (Family Affair, The Idea of You), raises the age-old question—does media reflect reality, or does reality shape the media? Viral psychotherapist Esther Perel recently shared on the Huberman Lab podcast that these movies definitely reflect real life, as more women are dating younger men. [Link to the podcast ep]
The numbers back it up too: a Bumble survey revealed that 59% of women respondents are now more open to dating someone younger.
You go, queens, breaking down that age-gap double standard!

Baguette bags
Also called East-West handbags, this long, slim silhouette was spotted on the shoulders of fashion girlies throughout the recent Fashion Week marathon. It’s the go-to for those rare moments when we swap the big hobo bag for a little silly one that barely fits a lip gloss.
The real question is—can you actually fit a 🥖 in there?

Workout Blush
Dior’s update to the boyfriend blush - here’s a make up look that builds on the wellness in fashion we talked about. Grab a fleshy tone blush and lightly brush it wherever you naturally flush from.
With indie sleaze and grunge back in the mainstream - emulating the natural blush and worn in eye make up is so real.
DIY Miu Miu Keychain
Miu Miu’s ‘leather tricks’ and ‘cord and nylon tricks’ are craft Twitter and Tiktok’s newest project, with people making DIY tutorials for this old school craft.
Is it giving ✨ethical✨conscious consumption✨?
(Though, people are loving the rest of Miu Miu SS25 - like these bags and use of accessories)

'Hear Me Out’ Cake
A grocery store cake, some skewers, and prints of your unconventional crushes - TikTok would love to hear out your unhinged crushes. We’ve got everyone from David Attenborough to Bluey - have you got any one original to add?

Spotify Bedroom
Verse has an ‘AI’ that will give you a ‘bedroom’ based on your listening history (or at least, your most recent tunes).
You can still customize it if it doesn’t exactly fit you- but it’s interesting to see if the ‘AI’ got your vibe. Guess it’s cute to give away your data for a cute picture.

Follow Ups
Thai Sephora was inspired by Moo Deng, but she’s an international diva now. She’s inspired make up looks and brought back the glass skin hype.
Moo Deng isn’t the only one - Pesto the Penguin, and there’s a white rhino. The internet has baby animal fever!
🚨 NEWSY STUFF 🚨
Megalopolis is out and it’s got mixed reviews… well, mostly confused ones.
+ The Substance is another mixed bag. Is weird cinema back?
Supreme X Jordan collab again for Fall 2024 - tracksuits, sports jerseys, puffers, and more.
Travis Scott released football jerseys as merch and fans are FEINing for them.
