Hi! Ilze here. Today I’m off to do some soul-searching in Tokyo. The past few days I’ve had mixed feelings about the trip—excited, yes, but also resisting being pulled out of my routine – “Just when I started getting comfortable…” It’s like when you get into sweats, hoard your fav snacks, light up a candle, put on Netflix, and suddenly a friend tries to drag you to go out. Not that peer pressure ever worked for me; when I’m in my homebody era, there’s no turning back.
Apparently, most of Gen Z (not that I’m one—I’m a zillenial) are homebodies. Blame it on rising living costs, less drinking, post-COVID social anxieties. Who’s feeling the hit? Not the wine bars, because people go there for the ✨ vibes ✨, as a recent NYT article pointed out. But the clubs. Especially in the UK, where 10 nightclubs close every month, with 37% of nightclubs having shut down since March 2020. Yikes! A doomsday for nightlife? Unlikely, given how mainstream techno has become. Little party never killed nobody, right? Just, you know, occasionally.
🗞Newsy Stuff
Vogue joins Vinted, selling designer pieces from their shoots at attractive prices.
On the topic of Vinted: women are reportedly having their images stolen from the platform and posted on misogynistic websites.
Tyler, the Creator dropped a new album Chromakopia and announced a world tour. Lady Gaga also reported a new album is in the pipeline, no release date yet, but a single Disease is out already.
Remember when we mentioned the age-gap romance trend? Uma Thurman and Phoebe Dynevor are set to star in a lesbian age-gap romance film.
Gigi Perez’s ‘Sailor Song’ is all over TikTok - and competing for #1 on the charts.
What’s all over our feeds:
Cobwebbing
Every homebody needs a partner in crime screen time. And so, behold the ⚠️cuffing season⚠️ where singles hunt for new partners to share the blanket. Or, in true winter coating fashion, reach out to old flames—just like we dig out those puffy winter coats buried in the closet.
But here comes cobwebbing—the supposed antidote for falling victim to these seasonal lapses.
Cobwebbing, coined by the dating app Bumble, means dusting out any emotional leftovers from past relationships—old photos or that cozy ex’s hoodie—to fully move on. 🧹
Will this marketing ploy appeal to our concept-loving nature and cobwebbing will secure a spot among such dating slang classics like lovebombing and breadcrumbing? We’re skeptical.

The New IT Ugly Shoe
With the cold weather, our dear summer comrades, Birkenstocks, have morphed into warmer, fuzzier mules and clogs. Felted wool and faux fur? Perfect for our homebody era, while the rubber versions handle those rainy coffee runs.
Bella Hadid was recently spotted wearing some [pic below].
Marni’s calf hair clogs are goated, while people in Paris are gearing up with Aigle’s water-resistant clogs.

Hot Pilates
As we swap salads for soups, reformer Pilates is also being traded in for hot Pilates. This version ditches the reformer machine in favour of mats and, as the name implies, takes place in an infrared-heated studio. Combining classic Pilates principles with low-impact, high-intensity training, the warm environment is supposed to enhance both performance and mental health. A way to shake things up in your #WinterArc?
GQ says it should be every guy’s new workout.
“Dry Yoghurt”
Wanna change up your yoghurt bowls? Douyin’s ‘Dried Yoghurt’ trend has carried over to Tiktok - it’s a clay-like, creamy, and colorful one. It’s akin to the Central Asian/Levant/ Arabian range of dried yoghurts, but now with added coloring (for the aesthetics), and decadent toppings.
How? Just grab some Greek yoghurt and let it sit overnight with a paper towel and something heavy to draw out the whey. Top it off with whatever you want, and bam.

Is it another fun way to get your probiotics, or just food aesthetics for content?
Frozen Gummies
Maybe a cold, ‘soft ice-y’ gummy isn’t the craving of most Europeans during the colder months, but social media is loving it. The perfect experiment with any leftover Halloween candy?
‘Thai’ Makeup
A sorta combo of Korean and American make-up styles, the beauty influencers are talking about doing ‘Thai’ makeup to look like a goddess. The full-of-highlighter, glittery, soft-glam look might be for the places with sunnier autumns (or for the influencers among us) for now.

Bracelets
Throwback to the '80s: stacking oversized bracelets like bangles and cuffs—silver, gold, colorful, leather, you name it—over a sweater or bare sleeve is in. That’s all there is to it.

See you next week!
