Bros wearing brooches
other fashion fads, and an anticipated gaming release + Amsterdam's latest flavor-obsession
hey again! the Met Gala ended up being more of a meh gala. rap beefing is back and as brutal as ever, with Kendrick and Drake throwing some serious allegations (the week's diss-cography here). the week was hectic online, but we’ve got you… and here’s the rest of our rundown.
brooches or bro-oches as the online kids call it, are the latest fashion trend and have particularly caught on with men. Just take a look at the Met Gala red carpet pics—you'll spot everyone from Bad Bunny to Adrien Brody jazzing up their outfits with pins. We’re fans of Challenger’s Mike Faist’s veggie action:
cafés - home edition. With coffee prices increasing and our insatiable appetite for pastries and sourdough - a new trend is arising from the hosting era: transforming your home into a cafe and hosting friends for weekend brunches. For more on this trend, check out the recent article by Eater.
Need inspo? Back in January, The Guardian wrote a great piece on how coffee houses around the globe are adopting the same plant-filled, wooden-lined Instagram aesthetics.

celebrities’ secret weapon for quitting smoking/vaping? toothpicks! And if the cheap wooden ones just aren’t for you, blip has got the flavors and aesthetic packaging that make them more of an accessory.

crocs ain’t going anywhere. In Sociology class, Ilze’s students had to do an essay about what they consider an example of bad taste. Somewhere between reggaeton and Twilight there were several papers on Crocs. Yet this Simone Rocha x Crocs collab and these new futuristic clog/mule/sneaker hybrids prove – Crocs are still hitting the spot. And could serve as a Mother’s Day gift?

Ilze is a proud owner of a pair of flowery ones [middle pic]. Just don’t tell her students.
twitter (or x) suddenly is obsessed with Tineke Younger - especially comparing her to Nara Smith. Tineke Younger is a food tiktoker who participated in S2 of Next Level Chef; and Nara Smith went viral a while back for her ‘oreos from scratch’ cooking video. Tineke also posts recipes ‘from scratch’ (like mayo) - but we don’t think Nara intended for viewers to actually recreate all her recipes (who’s making ‘bubble gum from scratch’?). We just like people cooking more, that’s it.
